Vizag’s Transformative Infrastructure Push: Seven Master Plan Roads to Bhogapuram Airport

Visakhapatnam is set for a major infrastructural leap as Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana has directed officials to complete the construction of seven critical master plan roads connecting the city to the upcoming Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram within six months. This ambitious deadline underlines the government's commitment to ensuring seamless connectivity and supporting the airport’s operational timeline.

These seven roads, covering approximately 27 kilometers, are strategically planned to ease traffic on the national highway and provide efficient airport access from various parts of Vizag. The development covers routes through key localities including Bheemili, Anandapuram, Gambhiram, and Adavivaram, amounting to an estimated budget of Rs 175 crore. The consolidated engineering, procurement, and construction contract model aims to ensure high-quality execution and timely completion.
Beyond roads, the minister also emphasized speedy progress on eight MIG (Middle Income Group) housing projects under the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA). Officials were tasked with fast-tracking internal roads, drainage, and civic amenities within these layouts to make them ready for occupation promptly.
The minister also reassured that all pending TIDCO housing units would be completed and handed over to beneficiaries by June next year, solving longstanding housing issues. Furthermore, the preparation of the new Visakhapatnam Master Plan is progressing on schedule to guide the city’s urban development strategy effectively.
This comprehensive infrastructure push showcases Andhra Pradesh’s dedication to transforming Visakhapatnam into a future-ready metropolis with enhanced connectivity, sustainable housing, and iconic architecture. Completing these projects on time will not only improve regional mobility but also stimulate economic growth, creating new opportunities for residents and businesses alike.
Residents and investors can look forward to a more connected, accessible, and vibrant Vizag, with infrastructure ready to support the city’s expanding role as a key economic and transit hub.
