Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Sets New Benchmark with Record 20,934 Tonnes of Liquid Steel Production
Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), a flagship unit of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), has achieved a new milestone in production efficiency. On December 24, 2025, the steel giant recorded a remarkable 20,934 tonnes of liquid steel output from its two steel melting shops (SMS-1 and SMS-2), surpassing all previous production figures.
This record-breaking performance was made possible through seamless coordination among various departments, improved process management, and enhanced equipment utilization. Plant officials credited the operations team for optimizing furnace cycles and minimizing downtime, which helped achieve maximum productivity within a single day.
According to senior management, the achievement highlights Vizag Steel’s continued focus on operational excellence despite market challenges. The record output comes at a time when global steel demand is gradually recovering, positioning VSP to cater effectively to both domestic and export markets.
Engineers and production staff celebrated the success across the plant, viewing it as a significant morale booster heading into the new year. The management team also reiterated the company’s long-term vision of enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and workforce welfare as it continues to strengthen its position in India’s steel industry.
With consistent performance and commitment from its workforce, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant once again underscores why it remains a cornerstone of India’s industrial strength on the eastern coast.
