CM Naidu Praises Vizag Police for Swift Action in Jagadamba Assault Case

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu commended Visakhapatnam city police for their rapid response in resolving an assault case at Jagadamba Centre, highlighting the suspect's mental health issues and the city's top national ranking for women's protection

Vijayadurga, the victim, shared on social media that while heading to work and pausing to photograph a Prabhas movie poster at Jagadamba Centre, an unidentified man wearing a religious garland slapped her, broke her spectacles, and verbally abused her without provocation. Bystanders failed to intervene despite the crowded location, prompting her colleagues to escort her to the police station.

Police swiftly reviewed CCTV footage and detained the suspect within hours, even without clear identification from the complaint. Preliminary checks confirmed his mental instability; Vijayadurga later visited the station, verified this, expressed satisfaction with the response, and requested psychiatric care over legal action, which authorities handled sensitively

Naidu praised the incident as proof of Vizag's strong law-and-order, reaffirming AP Police's public safety commitment and Visakhapatnam's leading women's safety status. He directed officials to stay vigilant against future incidents, avoid politicization, and protect the city's brand image.
