GVMC Launches Ambitious Cycle Track Projects to Boost Vizag’s Green Mobility

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has announced plans for new dedicated cycle tracks, including a five-kilometer loop around Mudasarlova Park and a coastal route from near Radisson Blu to Sagar Nagar Beach. These initiatives aim to promote fitness, reduce traffic congestion, and encourage eco-friendly commuting among residents.

The Mudasarlova loop will feature smooth asphalt paths, shaded resting zones, and signage for safe cycling around the popular park, ideal for morning rides and family outings. The coastal track promises scenic views along the beachfront, with safety barriers and lighting to attract tourists and locals year-round.

These tracks support Vizag's smart city goals by cutting vehicle emissions and promoting health amid rising urban pollution concerns from recent AQI spikes. Expect integration with bike-sharing stations, boosting community events like group rides.

GVMC targets completion within six months, starting with feasibility surveys and public consultations to refine routes. This move positions Vizag as a cyclist-friendly coastal hub, drawing inspiration from successful green corridors in other Indian cities
